tp link wifi extender not connecting

morning, I've recently joined virgin, my wifi is pretty good inside my house it drops when I go into the garden , I've got a tplink AC750 wifi extender that I was hoping to use to boost the signal around the garden when I'm out there,I can't get it to connect via the wps button, I've tried it at my friends who is on sky and it connects straight away, is there something else you have to do on a virgin hub? thanks

Login to the Hub at http://192.168.0.1/  use the Hub Password.    From the Wireless section of the Hub menus make sure that WPS is enabled and configured in a suitable way to connect the TP-Link extender.

Failing this TP-Link products usually have a menu that allows a manual configuration of the connection.

thanks I had to   add client   on wps section and it paired straight away
