Tp Link Extender

Hi,

We have had a tp link extender for years. There has been a lot of disruption outside with the Lightspeed network being setup. At 9pm last night all our devices were kicked off our WiFi network and we had to input passwords again. The VM network is working but we cannot reconnect to the extender. It keeps saying wrong password and connected without Internet.  I have spent 2 hrs, this morning,  trying to reconnect the extender without any luck. I am not technical in any way. Is it coincidental that network people were working (directly outside our house) yesterday. Our tvs were connected to the extender and the standard home network doesn't even come up in a search (on the TV devices). What's happened here? I am only 1 month into a new 2 Yr contract with virgin.

    It could be the extender has reverted to the factory setting admin password and needs setup again?  Have you tried this? The TP-Link website is very good at giving information on how to setup the extenders from scratch.

    However if this is an old extender from VM, i.e. a small white unit, and a larger unit, those need to be replaced by VM as they were withdrawn from service some time ago as some of them were overheating.

    Hi,

    I have spent 2 hrs trying to reset the extender. When I try to reconnect the tvs it keeps saying unable to connect or incorrect password (this is using the WiFi of the extender) as our original network says unavailable.  Please can someone assist or book an engineer to visit? I am entering  the correct SSID and WiFi password.

      So, is this an extender that was supplied by VM?  If it is not, VM will not send an engineer to setup a 3rd party device.  Can you tell us what exactly this extender is, i.e. make and model number etc.?

    No I understand VM won't send an engineer to connect a 3rd part extender. I am more concerned why our TVs can't connect to our home network.  Not VM tvs. We only have broadband. Phones, tabs etc working without extender. Everything got kicked off the network last night. Its all very strange. I am trying to pinpoint if there's a network issue going on. Why is our home network saying incorrect passwords when trying to reconnect the tvs? I am going to upload a photo of the extender

    No our home WiFi network isn't showing when we search or scan for networks.  As for the password its never been changed 😩

      You might have to try a pinhole reset on the hub?  If this fails, a tech visit could be necessary.  The WiFi should show up even if the VM cable is broken outside.

        Yes. This is the only thing I haven't done. I am going to do this over the weekend.  I will report back if resolved or if I need further input from someone at VM/engineer visit

    We also don't have any VPNS. When I add the network it then says unable to connect incorrect password.

    It also says the same error when trying to reconnect the extender cannot connect incorrect password etc. Yet everything else has reconnected fine. This all started last night after lots of network related work was done. I am really at a loss 😕 because I can't say that the Internet isn't working.  Its certain devices
