Wall socket doesn’t fit

Hi,

My partner and I have just moved into a new place, we saw that it had a virgin box on the wall so we thought we could just order it and set it up ourselves. The wall socket cable doesn’t fit in it unfortunately though, picture attached. There is also a pic of a cable that is coming out of that box that’s loose in the place, but also doesn’t fit anything that came with our hub. Any help greatly appreciated,

Thanks.

Bit hard to understand the arrangement from your description and photos.

It looks as if the wall box fitting in photo 2 has been broken at some point in the past. Is there no socket fitting there to use the push-fit cable in photo 2?

If the cable from photo 1 comes out of the bottom of the box in photo 2 it may be that a bodged repair has happened in the past and a trailing piece of cable has been fitted from the wall box to replace the broken connector.

Either take the lid off the wall box to see what is inside and provide some more photos on here or call the pre-installation and delivery team on 0800 052 1734 explain the problem and request a tech visit to repair the existing wall socket.

If the top picture is what comes out of the wall socket, it should fit onto the coax connector on the VM hub.

It looks as if, rather than replacing the broken outlet, a technician has bypassed the socket outlet. In that case it won't work anyway, as the internal isolator is connected to the white cable. Assuming this box also connects to the outside incoming feed, then all you need to do is screw the end of the cable on photo 1 into the back of the hub & you should get a service.
