A couple of pics of the connections would be nice if you had any?
This is the connector at both ends of the patch lead, in the standard Virgin Media internal wall box, the coax connector is replaced by a LC-APC to LC-APC coupler. The LC-APC connector is basically used from the underground fibre all the way to the router wherever it needs to be joined/pass through walls etc.
https://community.fs.com/article/lc-connector-adapter-and-cable-assemblies.html Has more info, just remember VM is using LC-APC connectors, (green) which can be plugged into LC-UPC connectors, (blue) but these are not polished at an 8 degree angle so won’t line up correctly, resulting in signal losses.
