Re connect app

Question - why does my wifi now go off for around 2/3 mins when i go on connect app ?.

Upto 2 months ago i was on ch 108 and worked ok but only aroun 450mb on wifi if i was lucky, changed channel to 40 and get 550 to 630 + ,but if i go on app after about 30 secs i loose wifi and when i go back online channel says 124 with optimization (which i had swithed off). So now i wont go on app so it doesnt change things.

P.s. only happens to 5ghz (which i have separates).

Thanks

We do not have the Connect app install exactly because it tinkers with the Wi-Fi settings.

What you are seeing the mandatory delayed start for broadcasting on 5GHz DFS channels.

Wifi only dissapears when i open app and usually only lets me in if it activates one ?, and puts channel 5ghz back on 124, but if i dont open app it stays as i set it.

The Connect app is known technically as a PoS.  Remove it  from your devices, and set the WiFi how you want it by logging in to 192.168.0.1

If your Hub can't stay on channel 124 it will be because you are within range of a GFS-protected radar site. They have priority use of the radio spectrum.

Thanks for replies,i dont want it on 124, if i open connect app and i have to 'activate one ' which is usualy evrytime at the moment, adter closing it after around 1 min wifi goes off usualy for 1 to 2 mins, after its back on its moved chanel to 124, so i have to go back in website to set it back to 40 again, just wondering why its doing it lately after being ok for some time.

I suspect the channel changes occur either

1) because the VM Connect app is installed on one or more of your devices
2) or Smart Wi-Fi / Wireless Channel Optimization is Enabled in the VM Hub's menu

You don't mention VM Pods - they are noted for being involved in channel changes to the DFS channels.

Just get rid of the Connect app. It's causing you nothing but problems.

My mobile is only device with app on, and Channel Optimization is disabled, but is back on after the wifi goes off itself, and no wifi pods are connected to hub .

I probably will remove it,but was usufull to see what devices was connected to hub.

P.s. was easier than going via wedsite to see devices.

Thanks again.
