Do please report this very serious incident to Trading Standards and retain the booster (and not reuse it ever again) as evidence https://www.tradingstandards.uk/consumer-help/

Continuing to permit use of an overheating Wi-Fi device in a child's room is very difficult to understand.
Especially as we now see the outcome was the predictable thermal failure.

Should have stopped using it if it got excessively hot.

It wouldn't have made any difference if you were in or out, the circuit tripped as it is designed to do.

Calling for a global recall is a bit OTT, these things happen and if there was an issue with the devices it would be all over t'internet and the press.

Yet another one of these things burning.  How many are in use with people who are not aware of the problem because there has been no publicity - hundreds, thousands?

If these devices are all allowed to stay in use it's almost inevitable that one will start a serious fire.  Well Virginmedia won't be able to claim they didn't know about it. They've been told enough times.

Seriously Virgin recall these now!!

I was literally just reading about another one of these things almost catching fire.

Brenda1969, please report this to trading standards and keep the booster as evidence.

I think they should put it on their website in newspapers or send letters out to their customers ,as they have records or should serial numbers they sent these out too.RECALL BACK

I thought It was hot after being plugged in all  day  .I unplugged before bed  and unplugged when going out I'm glad I done this..

That's very sensible Brenda. In other cases people have been advised to leave them off when not supervised by an adult. Personally I wouldn't want one in the house.
