New Hub 5 - MacBook issue

I’ve just upgraded to Gig1 with a new Hub 5 delivered. Every WiFi device is working correctly but the MacBook Air has a major issue loading any website, once a website is loaded (30s) you can navigate within the website instantly.

Everything worked perfect with the Hub 3.

I have tried disabling MAC filtering and splitting the bands, trying both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands exclusively but the issues remains.

Anyone had a similar issue?

What model/year is the Air?  What MacOS is it running ?

There have a few Mac related issues recently - and as I am all Apple - I collect them 😎

So start by looking through these and see if any of the solutions work for you - report back.

APPLE CONNECTION ISSUES

First check this...  no connectivity on Apple kit may be a MAC filtering issue for Apple devices - see if this has the solution for you….

Also, are you running a VPN - if so turn it off and see if that helps - also disable “Private Relay” if thats switched on in your iCloud settings on the phone/mac.

“LIMIT I.P. TRACKING”

Switching this off solved the speeds issue here….

After a MacOS/iOS update, it may auto turn on Automatic Proxy Discovery for all Wi-Fi networks - so turn it off in network settings as per message 7. In iOs go to Settings>WiFi> tap the blue”I” icon and scroll down and make sure Configure Proxy/‘ is set to off - also that Configure DNS and Configure IP are set to automatic

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Thanks John, it’s a 2020 MacBook Air running 13.0. Work PC so some settings are locked.

Tried disabling MAC Filtering, can’t disable IP tracking, Proxy discovery is off etc. I’m at a loss

Are you using a "work" VPN in order to connect ?

Try putting the Hub into modem mode and plug the laptop directly into it and see if the problem still exists.

If it works ok then you could keep it that way... after adding your own wireless router of course 😎
