Hub5 in Modem Mode with Netgear Router

Just upgraded to 1Gb service (hub 5). Put hub into modem mode and connected (via 2.5Gb port) to my Netgear (AC 2800 Dual Band) router. My PC wired direct to router receives nearly full 1Gb speed. Wi-Fi speed using Pixel 8 right by the router is only 600 Mbs. Also the internal Netgear (Nighthawk) speed test (which measures network speed directly via the ethernet cable between router and hub) also shows only 600 Mbs, which is a contradiction as I get 1Gb wired to the router.

Any ideas what might be happening? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Wi-Fi is half duplex and has a heavy overheads when compared to a network cable.

Check the wireless link rate of the Wi-Fi connection from the PC to the Router.
Expect considerably less real world throughput.

If the Netgear Router has a 2.5Gb/s or faster WAN port
it must have have EEE Energy Effecient Ethernet DISABLED on the WAN port.

If Netgear Router has a 1Gb/s WAN port try via a 1Gb/s WAN port on the Hub 5.

So its good then

The router trying to do a speed test is just slow then packets hardware offload to NAT out/in

My Netgear router only has a 1Gb Wan port, but I have been told to use the 2.5Gb port on the Hub 5 which should work at 1Gb regardless of the speed of the router Wan port?

Before brushing off the time saving advice to avoid using the 2.5Gb/s port, do take a couple of hours to see what is behind the suggestion, the post below has over 175 entries on the problems and failing of the Hub 5 2.5Gb/s port ...

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tested again using port 1 (1Gb) in the hub 5 (modem mode) connected to my Netgear router 1Gb WAN port. Unfortunately I still have the same speed issues. ☹️

Enabling any level of QoS or DPI on domestic routers often has a degrading effect on throughput.

Thanks again for your help. QOS is disabled, (DPI can't see such a setting) My PC is wired to the router and consistently receives 900+ Mbs but Wifi attached only 600 Mbs (right next to router) which is the same result as when I run the Nighthawk speed test. So I'm still at a loss

Yet another reason why I only use just a router and separate wireless access points.
