Hub 5 ready for 2-10Gbps? (DOCSIS 3.1 support).

Background brief: DOCSIS 3.0 is 1gbps over 32 downstream connections. DOCSIS 3.1 is protocol standard for 10gbps.

Notice hub 5 has 1 DOCSIS 3.1 connection available. Does anyone know if this 1 downstream of 3.1 allows hub 5 to be future proof and ready for next tier speeds? Is the limit of 1 3.1 connection software capable of being updated or limited by hardware?

Hub 5 is capable of more speed, but it looks very unlikely VM will offer a 2Gb/s DOCSIS product.

VM's focus now appears to be replacing the CATV / DOCSIS platform with XGS-PON where the current services include a 2Gb symmetrical service.

Plus a DOCSIS 3.1 channel.

Too costly for VM, when CATV is on the way out and all circuits will eventually be XGS-PON, goodbye coax.

It could happen. Some areas have already gotten a full-sized OFDM channel. Total modem capacity is now ~3 Gbps. It will only grow when VM adds another OFDM (the modem can bond two)...
