Recently renewed my contract after being with virgin for a long time, spoke online to someone who told me they had given me the best deal possible, today I spoke to a friend who renewed with a full package for £10 less than I'm paying, so this will definitely be the last time i renew as they are just after as much money as possible

It sounds like you had come to the end of a discount and were therefore going to be paying full price so you negotiated a new deal.

When did you agree the new contract terms?  If it's within the last 14 days youtcan take advantage of the 14 day distance selling window to change your mind and reject that offer. You would then go back to your original pricing, even if it was the out of contract price,  and package (or nearest equivalent) and then have the option of either cancelling or renegotiating.

Just for info, VM's  actual prices can vary on a day to day basis, and agent to agent basis so it might be possible to get a better deal.

Firstly, the "full package" can mean different things to different people - does this person have the exact same combination of services as yourself? Even if they do, VM have long operated differential pricing meaning that what your friend or relative is offered, doesn't have any impact on what you might be offered.

If you were happy with the price you agreed to re-contract on, then that price hasn't changed. If you weren't happy, then you should have either given disconnection notice or negotiated further. As mentioned, any contract renegotiation comes with a statutory 14days "change of mind" right to cancel, you'd be put back on your previous package and you could then renegotiate a package based on todays offers. That might end up being more, or less, than what you currently have - you can only take the best offer at the time you're negotiating.
