Bereavement - advice needed

RandomName123
Tuning in

Hi,

I've had a situation where my mum has died, but I was the account holder (on account of her not being particularly tech-savvy and myself paying the bills).

I've had to move as she didn't own her property and I'm now with my partner, who also has Virgin Media. I've been told I have a £300 disconnection fee to pay; having received 7 or 8 contradictory responses from the different teams I've been bounced between.

The £300 is up form the £203.64 the first person I talked to quoted me and I'm so confused and lost. I know I am technically the contract holder but it seems awful that not only do I move somewhere I don't need the contract for myself but I'm also being charged hundreds to cancel.

Is there anything I can do here? Or do I just have to pay out the ear?
