Added sky sports UHD lost TNT sports?

Hi, hoping someone can help as I've had no luck speaking to VM in either WhatsApp or their messaging service.

I added sky sports UHD for £4 a month yesterday. This evening I've received an email stating that I have made changes. I thought it would just be the UHD being added (which it has) but they've told me that I've removed TNT sports (which I certainly haven't!).

What is the point of adding something if their just going to take something else away?

Did they renew your contract, if they did then TNT is no longer included it's an £18 a month extra, if your contract didn't get renewed then you need to call Virgin on 150 or 0845 454 1111 from a Virgin phone or wait for one of the forum team to pick this up which might be 2 to 3 day's.

Thank you for the advice. No, just added the UHD sky sports option. Starting to wish I hadn't now... I have 5 months left on my current package. TV still shows 'Maxit'.

After goggling it, someone else posted that they upgraded to sky sports HD and that VM automatically then remove TNT sports as its a change to a legacy package that they no longer offer.

Would have been nice for them to.make people aware of this before they add things...

I have a feeling this is going to be a real pain to resolve.

As far as I know if you are still on the maxit package then TNT is still included unless you renew your contract. Good luck with your phone call or wait for the forum team to respond. 🤞

Exercising your 14 day cooling off period might recover TNT Sport (but lose Sky Sports UHD).

Any alteration to your TV package usually means moving off any legacy elements and onto current equivalents - hence the move from TNT-inclusive Maxit, to TNT-chargeable Mega in similar circumstances.

I may be corrected on this, but this theory usually applies where any discounting or minimum-term is involved. I can't recall off-hand whether £4/month is the standard price for Sky Sports UHD, but if it is - then historically there's just been a 30day notice period but your existing package otherwise remains intact.

If your online contract still states Maxit, I don't see why you should lose TNT if you had it prior.

Hi andy_lee007uk,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

We're sorry to hear there's been some issues with adding Sky UHD. When accepting any new discounts, it can affect other services depending on the package you're on. Recently, TNT Sports was removed from all packages and is now considered as an add on. For those where it was included (Maxit) a discount was added to offset the cost. Any changes made to your package means this discount would be removed.

Where we've spoken to you over the phone, we explain this at the time so you can choose whether to keep TNT Sports and pay the additional £18 per month or whether to remove TNT Sports. When completing the changes online, we wouldn't be able to offer the TNT Sports as it would mean paying an additional £18 per month without agreeing to it so instead the change is booked for 30 days time to allow you to get in touch if you wish to keep it.

So we can look further into things for you, we'll need to confirm some details and complete security. I have sent you a direct message to allow us to do this with you in a private space. If you are using a PC/Laptop then you can just click on the little ✉ at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox. If you are on a mobile/tablet device then instead click on the little circle icon in the top right then select 'Messages'. 😊

Thanks for everyone's help so far. So it transpires that if you add sky sports UHD too your package, TNT sports is removed and can only be re-added by paying £18 a month. This was never mentioned to me when I ticked the 'offers' box on my account online and is a very poor show from virgin media.

I've messaged asking for my 'upgrade' to be cancelled and for my original package and price to be re-installed as per my originally agreed contract. The UHD sky sports add on is actually an extra £22 a month when you factor in keeping TNT sports.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you too Kath_F who contacted me directly, explained what had happened and why it happened and resolved it for me.

I think the biggest merit is when something does go wrong, how quickly it is resolved and for that Kath_F has been amazingly helpful.
