Have been a long time virgin media customer originally migrating over from ntlworld..

Originally had 350mb for £33 prices have risen over the years now at £66.....

Best they can offer is £40 350mb

Sky 900mb + WiFi max £45. Sky 500mb + WiFi max £39. Guess it's finally come to an end...

Will virgin retentions call? What's the possibility of them beating sky's two deals?

Contracting with an ISP ain't Love Story. As you have a real choice in your area switch to a new provider. If for some unfathomable reason you then want to come back to VM then you would have new customer pricing to boot. 

I'm not a Very Insightful Person (just a little bit, sometimes). I don't work for Virgin Media (but then nor do any of the offshore customer service agents).

Did you give your 30-day notice over the phone? If not, we'd suggest contacting the retentions team on 0345 454 1111 (Option one, then four, then four), or 150 from a Virgin Media landline.

They'll be able to confirm the very best offer for the package that suits your needs.
