OTS and 30 days notice?

Hi all, my VM broadband and landline comes to an end March 26th, I will be looking at deals elsewhere to lower my costs. I have read on VMs site that if I go with another company using OTS I don't have to inform VM so would that mean I don't have to give 30 days notice to VM?

Thanks.

  • If you use OTS, your new supplier should make all the arrangements inc. dealing with VM.

You will need to agree a switch date with your new provider. You need that switch date to be after the end of your minimum term (26 March) to avoid any early disconnection fees from VM.

AIUI, the OTS process can truncate the 30 day notice to VM so, if you get a switch date shortly after 26 March, you only pay VM for the extra few days rather than a full 30 day notice period. Check out all of the specifics for OTS with the provider you intend to move to so as you are clear on what's involved with them.

Once you have the switch date with the new supplier, VM should send you a notification showing the final closing down costs for your VM services.

The advantage of OTS is that you don't have to talk to VM and you might be able to shorten the notice period to VM a bit. The disadvantage is that you are relying on the switch happening exactly as per schedule and nothing going wrong with either provider during the OTS process.

  • Hi Derek918

Welcome back to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear you're thinking of leaving us. With One Touch Switch, your new provider will work to install your services when you ask this to be installed  Within the process you're asked when your contract ends with your current provider. The final bill is then generated once the account is closed. This will need to be after your minimum term to avoid any early disconnection fees.

You can find out more about the One Touch Switch process here
