For the past week, my phone landline has been unusable due to static noise/crackling.
I have checked all the cabling to and from the wall socket. I even bought a basic phone to check that it wasn't my normal phone giving up the ghost.
I can't call 150 as the noise makes it impossible to hear things.
I have tried all the self-help and it was no use...
Any suggestion?

Sorry to hear of the issues you've been experiencing with the landline services.
Can you please confirm if the handset is plugged into the master socket or an extension socket?
If this is already plugged into the master socket, can you please ensure that any pieces of equipment are removed from the extension sockets and then try the phone line again for us?

Thanks for getting back so quickly.
It's the master socket and nothing else is plugged in.
It was perfectly fine until about a week or two ago.
