No dial tone, crackling noises on landline

My landline stopped working yesterday, it just crackles and has no dial tone.

I've tried 2 different handsets in all sockets and they are all the same.

I've tried using the test socket in the main wall mounted box and it's the same.

I've checked in my hub 4 router and telephony hasn't been enabled (I've had no notification that it has been but thought I'd check that after reading other threads).

What's the best way to contact support, I thought I'd previously done it via WhatsApp but I can't find that option.

  • Hi, we have a similar problem.  We think it started when our 1yr old grandson was pressing all the buttons. Could be a coincidence.

We have checked all connections (all good). We have no dial tone so cannot phone out but we can see a call coming in and who it is calling on all 3 handsets but cannot answer the call.

This issue is with BT  3 set handsets . Tried resetting, do not disturb is off and all fully charged etc. Just very quiet white noise in background.

Hopefully you get it sorted. We had an engineer visit and he migrated the phone line via the router which solved the problem. It does mean that our extension sockets are all now redundant.
