virgin mail settings - Community emails treated as spam

Why does virgin mail treat messages/emails from the community as spam?

When I first signed up for the community I could'nt understand why I was not recieving the verification email. Then found out about changing the spam filter settings in virgin mail. to "send to inbox but mark as spam" and lo and behold I recieve the various emails from the community, but all marked as "spam"

Why is this?

It is actually a fairly recent problem. I first noticed it on 20th March.

It seems to have been caused by a recent change introduced by Khoros who supply the forum software.

The forum notification emails used to show that they were sent by Virgin Media and they were not flagged as spam.

However, although the emails still appear to be sent from VirginMediaCommunitySupport at virginmedia.co.uk, (the same email address as before),  they now appear to be sent by Khoros themselves.

This should not be a problem but it seems that there are issues with the email settings which Khorus currently use when sending forum emails which mean they now fail VM's security checks and end up getting flagged as spam.

I understand that VM have raised this with Khoros but it would seem that Khoros has still fixed the problem.

Thanks @coenoby for the info, hopefully it will get resolved in time.

..

Since 10/04/2024 the email messages from the VM community are being flagged by my outlook email as-Warning unverified sender, do not click on links or download attachments, but these are not going to spam.

So it must still be an issue with khoros, but mine did not go to spam which would be a problem as spam is deleted  after 10 days in outlook mail, the reason may be that I have an email  filter set up for the virgin community emails which are filed in a folder, that may prevent them going to spam perhaps and may be worth doing that as most email does have filtering.

The VM filter rules are only applied to emails that arrive in the inbox so you cannot use them to stop emails arriving in the spam folder.

I only use my Ntlworld email account for messages from VM. Most of them are notifications from this forum.

When they started going to spam  I changed my VM spam settings to "Flag message as spam but deliver to inbox" to make it easier to for my email clients and apps to pick them up.  They are still being flagged with the <Spam> prefix so it seems there has been no change made by Khoros.

I wonder if at some point you turned off the spam filtering in VM and just relied on the spam filtering in Outlook. That would explain what you are seeing with the forum emails in Outlook.
