Two 360 boxes not communicating

We have two full 360 boxes, the one in the lounge was the original box, the bedroom box was added 12 months later. When trying to playback recordings on the bedroom box we occasionally get a warning that we need to turn on the box in the lounge.
Today when trying to set a recording on the bedroom box it refused to record saying it could not connect to the lounge box. Now a lot of the recordings will not play on the bedroom box, just a ‘cannot connect to lounge’ comes up. The box in the lounge is switched on and it can play all of these recordings perfectly.

Both boxes have been rebooted and a forced software update download has been done on both boxes.

The wifi router has also been rebooted.

Is there any way we can find out which box any recording is actually recorded on?

How can we get the two boxes to talk to each other again?

Jim.

    Hi Jim,

Go to Recordings , click on Recorded (View all)

On the screen that opens highlight Recorded (to the right of the search icon) and press OK.

That opens a sub menu (shown below) where there are 4 options you can select from:-

'Recorded', Recorded on this Virgin TV box' , 'Planned', and 'Planned for this Virgin TV box'

I have got to say, it would be very unusual for VM to provide an additional V360 box with a hard drive. Since its conception, V360 Horizon has only been a single hard drive box plus streamer slaves for multiroom. Only converted TiVO V6 boxes could be migrated in the twin drive setup. Are they both full size (two sections on top of each other) boxes? If one is half the height of the other then you only have one hard drive box. It is also possible if you do have two hard drive boxes that only one is registered as a recording location by the Horizon server, meaning that you cannot record on the second box without the configuration being changed.

If the lounge box is always playing perfectly then this is more than likely the only registered storage location on the account & you have a streaming issue to the second box.

I can assure you we do have two full blown 360 boxes. Until last night most recordings could be played on either box, we only got the ‘box in lounge not switched on’ occasionally. Thanks to the post above I can now check which recordings are on which box.
last night the lounge box appeared to be working correctly but on the bedroom box some recordings could not be viewed, also it was not possible to delete recordings from this box.

This morning the problem seems to have resolved itself so I will now check on which recordings are on each box.

EDIT. Using the info from above I can confirm that both boxes have different lists of recordings stored, there may be the odd duplicate but not many that I can see at first glance.

I don't know if this is related but yesterday there were issues for people using the TVGo app <this post> which appears to have been resolved around 15 minutes after midnight.

I had tested using my own TVGo and had the same problems, that I had no devices registered and was unable to make changes.

One other observation was that I noticed I was unable to connect to either of my 360 boxes when pressing the remote conrol icon within the app.  This function is now working again, so the issue with the app may have been connected to the cloud services, and in turn this affected the home connection link between the set box boxes.

Having now had time to check both boxes I can confirm that they both have totally different recordings listed on each box, no duplicates at all. My wife actually sets around 75% of the recordings and mainly uses the bedroom box to do this. One thing I did find was that some the recordings that appear only on the lounge box are ones she is adamant she set to record using the bedroom box?
