Forgotten password

I have been locked out of my laptop since yesterday morning.  All my passwords were saved in the browser.

I am using a different device, so am having to remember and save my passwords,  There is an email account that I can't log into.  It's the one that I have to use my gmail details to log into,  I clicked on forgotten password and got a message:

We've sent a password reset link to your email account if it exists.

The email should be with you within the next 10 minutes. The email will contain a link to create your new password.

What is the point of sending a link to an account that I can't get into?!

VM send the verification code to the email address that you use to log on, not your VM email address.

So the verification email should be in your Gmail account,
