Blueyonder emails suddenly stopped syncing on my Android phone

These stopped synching at the same time as not been able to log into my emails.  Spoke with Virginmedia and they advised me that the blueyonder domain has been shut down and that I need to log in using my outlook address with my blueyonder password.  I am now able to log into my emails but they are not syncing on my mobile phone.  Virginmedia said that's got nothing to do with them.  This is not correct as it happened at the same time.  I entered the same login in details on the settings as the ones I am now login into my emails and still not syncing.  What do I do?  She tried to transfer to me to gadget team but I was unable to hear them.  They said they would call back, took my mobile number and never called back.  Banging my head against a brick wall here.  Can anyone help please?

Have the settings changed e.g. imap.virginmedia.com port 993  SSL/TLS for incoming and outgoing is smtp.virginmedia.com  465   SSL/TLS?  I assume the issue is with my username and password as it it telling me that it is incorrect which is weird.  Keeps coming up with error Problem with account set up.  Your username or password is incorrect.  Therefore this has got something to do with the Virginmedia issue I had when logging into my emails which has now been resolved but didn't resolve the syncing on my android.

replied in error to myself

Hi Anastasia2,

Thank you for reaching out to us in our community and welcome, we are sorry to see you are facing issues with your Emails not syncing to your phone even after changing the email you use to access them, you can find all our email settings here.

Regards

Paul.

thank you for your reply.  the settings i have are the same as the ones that you have just sent.  i have removed and tried readding by following the email settings you have sent.  the error message I get is the same ... username or password is incorrect.  my user name is my email address and my password entered is correct as it is the same one I use to log on via the web.  Have double checked it.  there is definately a technical issue that has occured with Virginmedia. The is very frustrating and causing me endless inconvenience.

Thanks for the reply @Anastasia2 👋🏼

Have you tried to add the email to any other Android device and see if it is syncing there?
May I ask what the model and make of the phone is? Is the operating software on the latest one?

Let us know.

Kind regards,
Ilyas.

Thank you for your reply.  I don't have another Android device.  It is a Samsung phone.  My GMail is synching perfectly fine.  It's just the blueyonder emails.  Error message is email and password not recognised.

Software update was July 2024 so that would be latest.

Hi @Anastasia2 thanks for your reply here.

Can you please follow these steps to get this problem resolved and keep us updated?

Please log in to My Virgin Media here > Click on Account settings > Virgin Media Mail settings > scroll down to the App password section and click the Generate new App password button.

You should get a pop up message asking you to verify your email address and you'll need to use a 3rd party email address to continue. You'll be sent a one time passcode to enter on the next page to verify it's you. Once verified you'll then be given an app password which will look something similar to: mail-horse-yellow-panda and you should note this down.

To get things working on an email client or app again, you will need to enter the new mail password in the settings. This will allow your emails to load again. In some cases, you may need to remove the email account from the mail client or app completely and re-set it up as fresh. If this is the case for you, please ensure you use your VM email address as the username and the newly generated app password.

These changes have been put in place as Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now required. Just as a side note, when logging in to My VM, you will need to use the third party email address as the username and your original My VM password.

Give that a try and let us know how you get on.
