Adding Virgin Media email account to Outlook

I have recently had some Outlook issues which resulted in me having to delete my Virgin Media IMAP account from Outlook 2019. I have tried to re-add this but this is proving to be a nightmare and really frustrating !!.

Is there an issue with the Virgin Media servers not accepting connection requests through the standard settings?

All details are correct and upgraded to Office Profession Plus 2021, but still have the same Outlook connection issues. Is anyone able to provide any support, I have looked at the forums and tried all the examples and nothing works.

< 525 5.7.13 Authentication Denied (VM305)
* Closing connection
* schannel: shutting down SSL/TLS connection with smtp.virginmedia.com port 465
curl: (67) Login denied
* URL rejected: Bad hostname
* Closing connection
curl: (3) URL rejected: Bad hostname

Any tech person has any thoughts on this and how to resolve

@nbashir786 Have you followed the process to generate an app password to use with VM email addresses via email clients such as Outlook?

Should issue persist consider checking your Hub's public IP Address here in case it is on a blocklist, Lookup | Reputation Checker | Spamhaus — to find public IP Address go to What is my public IP address - IP.ME

NB Ignore report of your public IP Address on Policy Blocklist (PBL) as this is to be expected.

I wish more people would provide evidence like this.

This tells me what the problem is straight away.  Without seeing the OP's settings I'd say there's nothing wrong  with them.

Authentication Denied means that the Authentication was blocked due to a feature of the connection rather than the settings or password being wrong.

VM305 is a code for why it was blocked and it would suggest the users public IP is on the CSS blacklist.

This blacklist is a realtime blacklist with entries on it having been seen delivering spam to honeytraps over port 25 in the last 48 hours.  If no more spam is seen, the IP address will drop off the blacklist.

The OP needs to troubleshoot their network to find the device that's responsible.

Have a read through the above link.  It provides a method of looking for the offending device - treat everything as suspect, including mobile phones, amazon fire sticks and Kodi boxes.  If anyone is using Hola Free VPN - delete it.  This is a known conduit for spammers to use as the free version uses the client as an exit node for other users VPN connections.

I very rarely get involved in recommending VPN's but in this case I've ended up on the CSS in the past because of Hola and confirmed traffic heading to smtp servers from a device with Hola installed.  If you have it - get rid.
