Round here bus fares are quite expensive (particularly singles) compared to distance travelled.  I went on a trip to Reading (much smaller than round here) back in 2003 to attend a seminar at Microsoft HQ, as I got on the bus I was about to pay when I was informed that it was free.  I was told that Microsoft picked up the tab.  As Tom says in the clip, if it's cancelled then the price isn't really relevant...
