BBC iPlayer app not working

I’ve just received my first Stream box and all is working well except for the BBC iPlayer app. Netflix, Amazon Prime and even the Apple TV app work fine.

I am able to sign in successfully sign into the BBC iPlayer app but once in, I get errors either when loading the main screen content or trying to stream any content.  When trying to stream anything I just get a circle going round and round and finally an error code e.g. 34014 or 2050 etc. I’m not running any VPN type software just in case you’re wondering.

Very occasionally, after retrying several times, everything does work but for no rhyme or reason.

Now, on the same TV when I run its native BBC iPlayer app it works perfectly fine with no issues at all! This proves to me that it’s an issue with the app on the Stream box however, any help or pointers appreciated.

Stream firmware: v5.20

  • I'm having the same issue, only joined on Friday but it's very annoying having to switch to the TV.

  • Mine has also failed after I believe a software upgrade.

    Virgin, What's the solution?

I've escalated this iPlayer  issue to the forum mods as it's also affecting new 360 box users.

        It's fine on Tivo/V6

  • Joined on Saturday and have 3 stream bocces either exactly the same problem. Works fine through smart tv but none of the 3 boxes will let me watch or add to watchlist. Whilst I’m at it, sound on ITV is awful. Standard stereo. Not even Dolby like bbc

  • Same issue with iPlayer error code 02050 on all 3 stream boxes. Will not play anything and you cannot “watch from start “ on any BBC channel nor add to watchlist. All other apps are fine and iPlayer does work on smart tv app. Anyone have a solution yet or any help by ringing virgin up? Might have a couple of hours free……only joined on Saturday so still within my 14 days if they can’t sort it

  • any moderators here? anybody from Virgin? do we need to log a fault?

This is now showing as a known fault on my "service checker" expected fix at 13.10. See how that goes. Only activated yesterday.
