Latency and ping issues

Having latency issues has engineer out who said was router have not replaced with hub 5 today .
I’ve attached two bqms one from hub 3

the other from hub 5 .
it seems to struggle when am gaming but fine streaming films etc .

Nothing seriously wrong according to the BQM. You could post all the Hub data if you want that checked.

Is your gaming device connected by WiFi? That would explain the difference.

I’ve tried both wired and WiFi , the ping fluctuates the same . I never had issues before used to get ping around 13-17 over the last 2 months .. when under load lowest is 25-60 gameplay feels impossible . What settings on the hub would you like to see and I’ll post . Any help would be appreciated

for better wifi gaming use a better wifi router with 1Gb ports and use hub in modem mode

Your Hub stats are all good. For best WiFi speeds you should connect on 5ghz. To be sure of using the correct band you need to turn off the "smart WiFi" (clue - it isn't) and give the two bands different names.  If you have the Connect app on any devices you have to remove it because this will remove your manual settings.

But games will ALWAYS play better over ethernet.

So just attached Ethernet to Xbox cat 6 cable . Still 40 plus latency no change on latency with Ethernet cable . Any suggestion why this would be ?

Also I have changed both names on 2.4gz and 5gz . And turned off smart WiFi , now it’s intermittent on the 5gz discovery , am right next to the router ?

You can't trust speeds shown by a games box that tests back to the games server anf may have routing issues. And some of them display MB/s rather than Mb/s so x8 difference.

According to your BQM the minimum latency is very slightly above average but it's still far better than the many VM users who struggle due to contention issues. You won't do much better with VM's ancient DOCSIS technology.

Thanks mate so a modem is really the only way to hopefully fix this . Any modem you would recommend that’s compatible with the hub 5 .

What speed do you get with an ethernet connection to the games box? There's nothing you can buy that will improve it. That's the best you can get.

If your present WiFi is much slower than ethernet you could get a better WiFi router or access point. But first consider a new ethernet cable to where you normally use the game box.

Got a brand new cat 6 Ethernet to my Xbox , getting 980 mb . But latency still terrible . So buying a new modem won’t effect wired latency ?

No absolutely not, do not waste money buying a router and modem-mode etc, it almost certainly won’t help. The main cause of latency in this situation is VM’s infrastructure and you can’t fix that, however much you spend on equipment in your house.

You are stuck with the VM Hub. Anything you add can only increase latency.
