Virgin.net email closed without warning

I am a Virgin Media customer and have been for over 30 years. I am out of contract but still paying £65 a month. In 2023 they tried to shut down my virgin.net account but agreed to keep it open by linking it to my account.

Now they seem to have unceremoniously closed it. I cannot log on. After 3 hours web chatting and speaking to various people in support, they have given me a login using my backup Yahoo email address and setup an associated password but only a few very old email are in the inbox.

I can send and receive emails but it is NOT from or to the virgin.net email address so useless.

What can I actually do. No one I speak to gives an explanation. I am about done with Virgin Media. It is SO hard to actually get to speak to someone.

    How are you trying to access your VM email?

    Once you have provided a 3rd party email address (you mention Yahoo has been set up for you for VM) you have to use the third party email address as the login name.

    So if you are using VM webmail, you use the third party email address + VM password

    If you are setting up an email client program you use the VM email address + app password (which is generated from within My Virgin Media)
