Problems with our NTLWORLD emails

My wife and I are long term Virgin users, and both have NTLWORLD email addresses, recently we've been unable to access them.

My wife lost access to her mail on her PC, but could access it on her iPad and iPhone, I went into the Virgin media account settings and there is no record of any email accounts in the 'Additional Virgin Media online accounts' section. we've tried resetting the password, but the system only wants to reset the password to access the Virgin Media account details.

Mine was working ok until I generated a new app password in an attempt to get my wife email working, now I'm unable to access my email on my phone although I can still access webmail.

We both use these email accounts a lot and effectively run our lives on them, how can I reset the passwords on them so I can regain access?

Sounds like your own email account is the primary account for your VM services?

If you have generated an app password for your own email address, then you use your ntworld email address + the app password when you set up an email program on a device. Also check the server settings are as below

    https://www.virginmedia.com/help/broadband/manage-email-settings

From the primary My VM login, you should be able to see the additional mailboxes associated with your VM broadband service. In the past, you used to be able to do password resets for additional mailboxes via the primary My VM. Now, each mailbox has its own 'My VM' and each additional mailbox has to be administered via that route.

If you cannot see your wife's mailbox as an additional mailbox from the primary My VM login, then her mailbox may have become orphaned from your VM broadband service and you will need the VM forum team to look into that for you.

VM has also started requiring customers to provide a third-party email address as part of its security procedures. See below

Password reset on NTL email account | Virgin Media Community - 5623904

which may be needed for your wife's email address via her own My VM (if/when it is linked to your VM broadband service)

The general view of regular users on here is that VM email has reached the point where it cannot be relied upon for anything important. Given that a third-party email address is now required to use VM email, the obvious move is to start migrating all of your online services to use a new third party email address. This will give you better security, better features and better reliability.

A VM person should get to your topic within a few days.

  • Thanks for the response, it does look like VM doesn't want the responsibily and cost of running old domain email services. Their loss, we both use our NTLWORLD emails for most things and that its one of the few things that keeps us with Virgin, even though it's more expensive. I'm already starting to move my stuff off to a gmail account, once that's done, I'll likely look at other option for broadband.

A real PITA as people have been contacting us for 25 years on these addresses!!

Hi Mikeskeels thanks for posting and welcome back to our community.

Sorry to hear you're having issues accessing your emails on certain devices. Please can you advise if these devices are the same for both you and your wife? And the issues exist on the same email clients for both of you?

      Regards
