ntlworld email problems

Hello, i seem to be having the same issues as others with the ntlworld email, i haven't been able to access my mail since mid April, i usually would go through my virgin media mail when issues arose but that isn't working, so i followed the instructions, i set up a gmail as the one to receive verification, i changed password, when that didn't work i clicked for an app password, this worked as in i was able to enter my details and log in, it authorizes then goes to retrieve messages, and nothing, timeout after timeout, i can't access my virgin media mail, the page just spins, i use a laptop for my emails, i can't access game sites and check bills as i need my account to verify it's me, any help appreciated from a frustrated old woman

    Just to clarify a couple of things in case they help:

    1. Your Gmail account will not just be the email account where VM send verification emails. More importantly,  it is now your Username to sign into your VM accounts. So you will need to type your Gmail address (not your VM email address) and password into the sign in screen to access your My Virgin Media account or VM webmail account.  Your VM email account and address will remain the same when it comes to sending and receiving emails - you only need to use the Gmail address when signing into your VM account.
    2. The "App password" is only for use when you access your VM email account via an email app or client. You still have to use the normal password to access your My Virgin Media or VM webmail accounts  directly form the VM website.

      Hi, it worked, when signing in to my virgin media it was automatic, but tried just now and it gave me the option to choose my gmail, it worked, phew, that is such a relief, so really there is no need to use anything else as you can send emails from my virgin media etc, i still can't access through live mail but as long as i can get my emails i am happy, thank you so much,

        That sounds like you need to update the password in Live Mail's settings with the current mail app password - as I mentioned in the second bullet point of my earlier post.
