Password issues!

I have a virginmedia email address, and for my phone, ipad etc I have set up a passkey which all works perfectly.  I have recently changed laptop and have my virgimedia on there though outlook (Windows).

Yesterday it asked me for my email password (It asked for other accounts too), and the problem is that the password I thought was correct is no longer being accepted.

When I try to change my email password in myvirginmedia it asks for an alternative email address to use for the reset process.  I then provide one and don't receive anything further.  I can still access my account on my phone/tablet, but I can only access on my laptop through myvirginmedia which doesn't really work with my calendar sync etc.

Any help would be appreciated

    Firstly, are you still a paying VM customer, as VM have been purging mailboxes from non paying ex-customers.

    If you are, have a look at the following;

    www.virginmedia.com/help/broadband/manage-email-account

    Sign in to My Virgin Media
    Go to Account settings, then Account details
    Tap Manage next to Manage your Virgin Media Mail app password under Virgin Media Mail
    Then, under Virgin Media Mail app password tap Get password
    Continue the flow and a new secure password will be generated, and the mailbox unlocked
    Update any third-party apps that may be use to access your Virgin Media Mail emails with this new app password.

    VM no longer give mailboxes to new users for the past three years, and are changing all other users to a 3rd party email login with an accompanying 4 four app password.   It nearly seems like they want users off the email system ...

      Thanks - I am still a paying customer so it's not that.  and as I said it still works on other devices.I've tried the above, but when I get in to that it doesn't give me the option to get or generate the password.

        Hi lphugh thanks for your post although we're sorry to hear of the concerns you've raised.

        It's strange it's not giving you the opportunity to generate an app password, perhaps (make sure you blur any personal details) you could take a screenshot of what you see (or aren't seeing) when following the guidance provided above?

  • thanks, when I attempt to get to there it asks me to provide another non virginmedia email address to use to change it. And then when I provide one it asks me to check my emails - but nothing appears

     

  • It’s now stating my account is locked when trying to access through iPhone and myvirginmedia account.

      Sorry to hear the email is showing as locked.

      It can take a few hours to update from ourside after emails have been locked.

      Can I please ask if you're able to access emails okay now?
