Overhead cable installed for next-door

Hi, Virgin Media have installed a single overhead cable to provide internet to next door. It crosses over our property boundary, come quite close to the house and ruins our view from the top floor windows. Furthermore it is so close to the roofline that we would have issues if we need to erect scaffolding. Virgin Media so far have ignored any of my attempts to contact (I don't have an account). What is more puzzling is that the cut-de-sac has 24 hours and none have needed any overhead cables for the past 50 years - all infrastructure is underground. Please help. It is unsightly and worried about effect on property value.

Overhead cables have been used for years and most properties in my road are similar to what you describe. I have never had any problems putting up scaffolding when my and next doors overhead cables cross my property, they are BT telephone and Open Infra fibre lines. "ruins our view from the top floor windows" wow they must have installed a very thick cable.

If not there is nothing you can do.

It is common now for overhead cabling to be extended, as the shared ducts in some locations are full & there is just no room for additional cabling without major costly excavation work.

It may help you to know that VM is overbuilding its network with fibre, and everyone will be migrated (but on a timetable not published within the next several years). When this happens the duct will be used and the overhead cable taken down.

But in this case, VM apparently do not have a duct. Or they would be using it now.
