Blueyonder email

Hi, I have an old blueyonder email address that I use occasionally and have access to it on my iPhone Mail app. I need to change the password due to security issues but I can’t find a way of doing this. Could someone point me in the right direction please?

  • I can still access my blueyonder email, and I still use it on my iPhone, but I can’t change the password using my iPhone as options for settings are limited.

When you leave VM, VM is supposed to delete your mailbox after 90 days of you leaving. In the past VM has been very unreliable at doing this but in recent times it has been doubling down on doing so.

VM has also implemented changes to security, one of which is an app password for email client apps. To generate the app password you need to log into My Virgin Media to do so (which you won't be able to do if you are no longer a VM customer).

If you try a password reset now, you may end up getting locked out of your mailbox altogether.

As a matter of urgency, you should set about switching all of your email contacts and services which rely on that BY email address over to a new email address not linked to an ISP. You should do this while you still can access the BY mailbox as email security changes for some sites will send a confirmation to the old address before allowing you to set a new one.

Cheryl-smart  Do you still have a Virgin Media broadband account to which this email is attached?  If so:

To create an email app password or update an existing one you need to follow these steps:

Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
    Select Account Settings
    Select Identity & Security Settings
    Select Manage your products
    Select Manage email app password
Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'

Make a note of the generated password.  This is what you use in the mail apps along with the vm email address as the username.

Hi, thank you for replying. Unfortunately I no longer have a Virgin media broadband account.

If you are no longer a VM broadband customer, it is highly likely VM has deleted your email address.
