blueyond virginmedia email problems

I have both a blueyonder co uk email and a virginmedia com email.

I can send to and receive but cannot send from either of these addresses using my Thunderbird email client. I used to be able to but now they won't send.

If I log in online I can see both addresses and send and receive from and to them.

Any suggestions?

Peter

Have you generated an app password for each email address to use in Thunderbird?

If you are using an email app or client to access your emails you are likely to need an app password, especially if you changed your password when signing into the VMO2 ID.

To create an email app password or update an existing one you need to follow these steps:

Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
    Select Account Settings
    Select Identity & Security Settings
    Select Manage your products
    Select Manage email app password
Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'

Make a note of the generated password.  This is what you use in the mail apps along with the vm email address as the username.

  • Brilliant, this worked for myvirginmedia email, but how do I get a new password for my Blueyonder email. It only offers the virginmedia one.

You will need to create a VMO2ID for every mailbox you have.

Peter419  You need to sign out of your virginmedia account and then sign back in with the blueyonder account details.  The username to sign in with will either be the blueyonder email address or a third party email address if you had previously set one as the MyVM username for the account.  If you haven't already done so you will need to go through the process to convert the MyVM login to a VMO2ID for the blueyonder address.  Just follow the steps as presented at the time of signing in.
