App Password

I've just bought a Pixel 9a mobile phone and I'm trying to setup Gmail to open my @ntlworld.com emails.  I've tried to 'Add another account' entering my email address and password as prompted but all I get is 'Email address or password is incorrect' (which they're not!).  I went onto ChatGPT to see if I could delve deeper into why I have an issue, and it suggests that I need an app password.  I've been into my Virgin Media account to see if there is a means of setting an app password (as suggested by Chat GPT), but I can't find anything.  Is there anyone out there who has had the same problem, and have they solved it!

To create one or update an existing "app" password, you need to follow these steps:

Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
    Select Account Settings
    Select Identity & Security Settings
    Select Manage your products
    Select Manage email app password
Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'

This will be in the form word-word-word-word and is used for email client software, or "apps" in VM speak.  This is not the password for your VMO2ID account for My VM / Webmail.  This is used in conjunction with your ntlworld email address to setup the email client IMAP/SMTP

  • Sorry, found the answer to my query in a previous post. Should have a bit delved deeper!
