Adding blueyonder to my gmail account

Hi

I have spent a very frustrating number of hours attempting to add my blueyonder.co.uk account to my gmail on my android phone. I have a virgin media app password and have used that to start the process.

(1) the server comes up automatically as just blueyonder.co.uk. is this right?

(2) having changed the security to  SSL/TLS and checked that port 993 is chosen I repeatedly get the message that "couldn't open connection to the server"

Am I doing something totally wrong?

The settings you need can be found in the help page section on adding email to a device. https://www.virginmedia.com/help/broadband/manage-email-account

Although you have a blueyonder email address you should use the Virginmedia.com servers as set out in the help page.  Remember to use the full blueyonder.co.uk email address as the username together with the generated app password.

Thanks Graham. I changed the IMAP server to virginmedia.com but unfortunately this has not solved the second problem. Still can't connect to the server

It used to be the case that the Gmail app would not accept VM email accounts unless you opt to allow less secure access via the Gmail settings.  I don't know whether this is still the case but worth investing via the Gmail help pages.
