Using iPhone dial keypad to input password

I needed to talk to someone regarding my bill and called the usual 0345 number - was guided to the right section using my iphone keypad. However it then wanted me to input (using the iphone dial keypad) certain characters from my password (the 3rd, 4th etc), and kept telling me that they did not recognise this password and ended the call. The thing is - I know my password is correct, but the dial pad on the iphone only has numbers and letters - it does not seem to be able to make these case sensitive. Also my password has other characters which are not available on the iphone dial keypad. Am I using my iphone incorrectly or if I am using it correctly how do I input the letters and characters they ask for?? Thanks for any help.

When you phone in you are prompted for your 'telephone security details' (your memorable word) which not the same as your VM password.

Are you using your memorable word when phoning in?

You should be able to reset it (if you don't know what it is) as below

Thanks for this. I will try it. I do remember my memorable word.
