Early Contract Renewal

Our current contract ends at the beginning of June 2025. Recently we received emails from VM offering an early contract renewal deal, but the details both in the emails and on the website are very confusing.

In the description of how the offer works, it states:

"Step 1 – New 18-month contract starts
Your new contract starts, but the price you’re paying now will be carried over to your new contract for the remainder of your current term"

Does this mean that the current price we are paying continues up to the June date without the imposition of the RPI + 3.9% increase that would otherwise have been due in April?

It then goes on "Once that ends, you automatically start paying your new, exclusive offer price. Remember, it’s fixed until March 2025". Does that mean that the offer itself ends in March, or that the price of the service will rise by £3.50 as per the offer terms, bearing in mind that the price quoted is described on the website as "Current monthly price from July 2025", which would imply that that is the price that would be paid from July onwards till the next annual increase is due.

This is all very confusing. Can anyone clarify what is really meant in this offer please?

Just had a similar offer .... The new offer will/should start within a day or so, at the price they have agreed with you .... Mine is £59 (was) about to go up  ... new contract price is slightly higher then that and the April increase .. but with a longer contract, and without any increase for this year; will increase again next April '26... and when the new contract ends .. Oct 2026? ... in 18 months time.

     Hope that this helps

My contract will end on 20th August 2025 and like last time had an email for a " Like for Like ", deal.  However, like so many other customers it didn`t include TNT Sports which had been taken out of the new packages and sold as an extra paid for channel.  After ringing up and talking to them, they had no choice but to add this in.  Also in previous packages, I see they have gone back to offering the free sim card on unlimited data, etc..  Since this was not offered on my last renewal, as they had taken it out, my family are now on 4 x sim only deals, 10gb, doubled to 20gb with volt at £10 each.  So, when I come to renewal, is their a chance of not taking the sim card and using this credit for different services?  When I have talked to them before about taking channels out, like the kids, films, which I don`t tend to watch much of, they have said that the price will go up by taking these out?  It`s mainly sports that I watch and have been a customer since the Tele west days and have been happy with the service on the whole.  I won`t be accepting the offer via email again this time, I need to speak to an advisor that can actually tailor a package for my needs, and being flexible about dropping items and adding other ones as replacements.  I have offers from TOOB in my area, which is Full fibre from cabinet to router, rather than copper wire to router like Virgin.  Also no annual price increases with TOOB.  So if I left Virgin Media it`s just the tv side of things that I need to sort out.  My landline is never used, and once again, having said about this being taken off, it adds more to the price.  So, let`s see what Virgin Media offer me this time and I will then consider staying with them or moving on.  I am now contacting other providers for TV deals and also TOOB about Broadband to see what I can get.  Toob is £25 a month on an 18 month contract with 900 upload and download speeds which is enough for me.  Currently, with the 2 price increases since I took out my contract, initially it was £79 a month, now paying £88.  As previously stated, I`ve been a customer for over 30 years and am probably the closest I`ve been to leaving this time than anytime before.  Good luck to all those trying to renegotiate new deals, and any information on tv package providers, mainly for Sky Sports and basic tv channels would be appreciated.  New customers to Virgin/Sky seem to get great packages to sign them up, but not great deals for long term members.

A lot of these on line contract aren't honoured, as there are subject to a 14 days processing procedure, and a lot get lost in the system. I suggest that you check that the offer has been accept by Virgin!!! Mine wasn't and has resulted in me having to leave ... just running out my contract. The offer I was later given was £27 per month dearer that the on line offer. but with a promise of a later reduction (not included in the contract offered) of £27 ... apparently that's okay because I left O2 ... who would have known

Further to my above post, I entered into live chat about a new deal even though I still have just over 2 months left.  I currently pay £88 and my renewal price for a customer that has been loyal to them for over 30+ years was a £50 per MONTH increase to £139.  I`m done with Virgin Media and will now get my Broadband from TOOB for £25 a month with no price increases in April.  Now need to source my TV side of things, maybe TV Now or a Firestick.  I am staggered at the price increase and I suppose it`s the sign of the times with everything going up.  Luckily staying loyal is not the cheapest option anymore, and other fairer, cheaper options are available.   Another lost customer for Virgin Media.
