Contract Renewal

As I am unable to speak to a human at Virgin Media and the Live Chat wasted an hour of my life without giving me an answer, can anyone help me please. I renewed my Virgin contract in February however when I looked at my account today it seems to be giving me the option to renew again at £12 cheaper than the amount I’m paying. I don’t want to click on the renewal option in case I mess up my contract - has anyone else had a similar situation?

If you have the same experience as those who have posted here, you'll find that it doesn't actually work as promised and you'll end up with something different.

"If it sounds too good to be true ..."

  • Well I ‘grabbed’ the deal and ended up doing a WhatsApp chat with Virgin Media as I just couldn’t speak to a person. They confirmed I have to wait 14 days before the renewal is confirmed - I will see whether the renewal promise is kept.

Now here's the issue, the Law, both common and statute is fairly clear on this, one party (VM) makes an offer to the second party (you) to provide xyz provision in exchange for £x. Now the instant you accept the offer, by whatever method, then legally the contract is made then and both parties are obliged to accept it.

This oft mentioned, 'wait 14 days to see if the offer is accepted'; is compete rubbish and one day VM will be dragged over the coals for it.

  • There is something wrong, probably with the software that "manages" our accounts. It seems to me that it contains so many bugs that putting it right is beyond the software writers.

Mine was renewed this year, but they have no way of putting the document on my account screen. I say this, because I received a lot of help by one of the team, but in spite of her efforts, they have failed in trying to let me have the recent contract.

I think the techy boys are trying to contact me, but there is nothing I can do from here - I didn't write the software.

I would guess that many of the contract problems raised here are the result of dodgy software that is beyond their wit to correct.

I have written some (unintended) rubbish myself and I have debugged successfully, so I do understand their difficulty, but there is always a way - all they have to do is find it and fix it.

Just needs a wet towel around the head :-)   Oh yeah, a lot of patience!
