Wifi takes forever to start up

Every time I restart my Virgin Media Hub 4, it takes about 5 minutes to get the steady white light back. Then it takes a further 15 minutes to get a 5GHz wifi signal back. Until then, nothing.

I would chat to customer services, but chat doesn't work on my laptop. Still, YouFibre has just started operating here so they might be a better bet!

The Hub is most likely using a DFS channel for the 5Ghz band.  That’s why there is a delay in broadcasting.  Any DFS channel has to, by law, check for any radar signals before starting.
As for the general starting time, that’s about normal.

To keep the 5GHz Wi-Fi off a DFS channel, login to the VM Hub menu,
in the Wi-Fi settings change the 5GHz band to Manual channel 36 or 44.

Using channel 44 on our VM Hub the 5GHz band re-start promptly.

Why do you need to restart your hub? I cannot remember the last time I restarted mine, probably about 2 years ago.
