TiVo box keeps re-starting

Hey,

looking for advise please?

i have a TiVo box and since last week it keeps rebooting itself and when it comes back on, it goes straight to the Home Screen. When it comes back on and try watching it again, it only stays on for between 15mins and an hour's worth and it switches itself off again and restarts up going to the Home screen. Whilst it is doing all this and restarting up the lights all begin to flash blue and green.

We have tried numerous times turning the TiVo box off at the mains, but it issue it still occurring.

  • The TiVo boxes are incredibly elderly by current standards, are starting to lose support for current streaming apps and have long since been superceded by the V6.

It's also standard practice to lose recordings in any box-swap situation.

The box is clearly faulty, you should report it. Faulty TiVo's are now replaced with V6, which run the same software but on a much newer box with more recording tuners, more apps and generally much quicker operation.

VM staff tend to respond on this forum if you don't mind waiting a few days, otherwise calling in should elicit a quicker response.

thanks for coming back and replying @japitts.

Are we sure they are not replacing TiVo boxes with another TiVo box? id be devastated if this is the case. I need my TiVo boxes as i like to copy football and rugby games to DVD's with the scart lead to my DVD recorder 😞

  • Im happy to lose the recordings i currently have. I like to record my games, copy them onto DVD then delete them. Im assuming then, this will no0t be case anymore?

If they have replacement TiVo boxes id be happy to have one. yes, i know i will be one of the few

      Hello Fod1973.

Thanks for your post, sorry to hear about your TiVo box coming to the end of its working life.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news as we'd not be able to replace like for like any more.

What we'd need to do is arrange for an engineer to pop round and swap the box over to a V6 box.

If you don't mind, I'll need to send you a private message to pass security and arrange this.
If you can check your logo at the top right of your screen that would be great.
