Wi-Fi client communication between 2G and 5G SSIDs

Pretty straight forward question, but can't seem to find the answer to it and I don't have a Hub to test with:

When a Hub is configured with separate SSIDs for the 2GHz and 5GHz radios, can clients connect to each other (by default, out-of-the-box) if they're connected to different ones?

Thanks,

B

The question needs to be asked & tested for a specific VM Hub.

My question isn't tied to a specific Hub, just curious about the behaviour on any that feature the split SSID.

Assuming that a device does not support only 2.4Ghz, it will will automatically connect to the strongest available WiFi signal. All things being equal, a 5GHz WiFi signal is likely to be stronger than a 2.4GHz signal.

I understand the the nuances between 2.4 and 5, that's not what I'm asking.

Maybe if I expand a little:

I have a phone that only has a 2.4 radio so I connect it to VM123456-2G.

I have a laptop that has both radios but for additional throughput, I connect it to VM123456-5G.

Can those devices connect to each other (presuming relevant firewall rules are in place)?
