Sky Q hotspots

Hi; I have a hub 5 (with 1gig) and all fine, apart from being unable to get Sky Q hotspots working; I have enabled everything correctly in the Sky setup and the SSID is being broadcast via my various Sky mini boxes, but with ‘no internet connection’. Sky have said the issue could be to do with a couple of Sky boxes being wired to a switch and that running them all wirelessly might fix things, but 1. It doesn’t seem to and 2. I need the wired connection between two of the Sky boxes because they are too far apart to work wirelessly.  I only recently switched to Virgin from Sky broadband, and the hotspots were fine with Sky’s (much slower) broadband. Am I best just forgetting Sky hotspots and using some Virgin boosters? Thanks for any advice…

Virginmedia's 'pods' only work with VM Hubs, so it's entirely possible that Sky's hotspots will only work with Sky's router.

If you request VM's pods, make sure you insist on the newer black ones, as they are apparently significantly better than the old white ones. VM guarantee a maximum of 30 Mbps with them.

Thanks. I seem to have sorted it by enabling the guest SSID and making that the Sky hotspot…I don’t know why that would work and the default Virgin one not do, but problem sorted.

The Hub 5 has reported issues with DHCP when using a different SSID than out of the box.  The Guest Wifi apparently, as you have discovered, works.

What are the IP details on the Sky boosters?  Are they set for DHCP, or do they still have the Sky IP ranges?
