Problems for a month or so now. New hub today, mobiles all connecting to WiFi and internet, just laptop having WiFi but no internet. Went to local tech shop and joined their WiFi and through to internet just like normal. So no problem with WiFi or laptop. Wth?

looks like you need a better router put hub in modem mode
But why does it work on neighbours BT broadband just fine?
And why are phones ok?
Endless "help" from Virgin Mdeia gets me nowhere. Beter to just switch to another provider despite VM being only cable provider in street.
likely a firmware issue but VM don't do lots of testing like 3rd party routers do
wifi code for the hardware maybe changed or removed by the one doing the coding due either to simplify the code or old support code that looks not to be needed.
The laptop might be trying to use outdated or corrupted settings from the current network profile. So, in the laptop's WiFi settings, find the old SSID and forget or remove. Go into Command Prompt (Admin) and run the following:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
netsh winsock reset
Restart the laptop. Scan again for the the SSID and enter the password. Note: this should be the SSID and password on the sticker of your new hub.
But why does it work on neighbours BT broadband just fine?
All too often this is a result of using the Connect app and having applied Wi-Fi Pausing to an "unknown" but legitimate device that turns out to be your laptop.
Check in the VM Hub admin menus to see if there are any entries for :
1) Wi-Fi Pausing
2) MAC Filtering
An entry in either place for the laptop would result in being connected to the Wi-Fi but being blocked from access to the internet.
