Max devices = 12 devices?

My sister-in-law has over the weekend done the price gouging dance and finally ended up on a price/package deal that isn't ripping her off.

Anyway as part of the "upgrade" she has been moved onto a M350 based connection.  She enquired about a Hub5 upgrade, but they want to charge her for this, she has a Hub3 unit at present.  I believe conversations were had around wireless and they're sending some more of the useless puck wifi booster units.

What was said is that she was told she has too many devices connected and needs to make sure that no more than 12 are connected, is this documented somewhere or is this another case of your useless tech support talking rubbish?  So this evening she told me she's unplugged various devices and disconnected Alexa etc.  I'll be heading round later in the week to turn off the wireless and install a seperate AP and eventually put the unit in modem mode.  I've got over 50 IoT devices on my network with zero issues, can stream 4k content from multiple AppleTV devices, yes I'm not using the rubbish Virgin hardware.

Bear in mind when I last spoke to them they said things wouldn't work as I wasn't on a 192.168.100.x address, err yeah.  Heard of class A, B or C address space and such?  Then then reset my router back to factory default without asking.  I was less than impressed.  So we know the competance level of support.

Most users on this forum with a lot of IoT don't use the Hub as a Router, rather they use modem mode and invest in their own networking solutions.

Indeed I for one am not using their junk, separate wireless APs, pfsense with various services behind it, all works without a hitch and easy to manage.

However it's more that my sister in-law has been told 12 is the limit, so I'll take that as normal CS spouting rubbish.  I'm planning on switching off the wireless on her hub3 and dropping in a spare Linksys MX4200 I have sat on the shelf.

pfsense or unifi express may get dropped in at a later date once seeing how things perform or not.
