Lost internet connection

Hi,

Over the past few months the internet has lost connection a few times. The light on the hub (5) flashes red.

I have noticed that if I go to the grey box outside and fiddle with the cables, the internet comes back – at least for a few days anyway. When I say fiddle, I simply mean pushing the cable gently into the grey box

When this happened a couple of weeks ago, I went a step further and tightened the connections inside the box. They did tighten up a bit so maybe they were slightly loose. I haven’t had a lost connection now for the past couple of weeks. Do you think tightening the connection has solved the issue? Is this a common problem/solution? I’ve read community posts and not seen it mentioned anywhere. Or, might there be another underlying issue?

I guess I want to be prepared for the next time it goes down!!

Thanks, and apologies for my non-technical description.

Yes, a loose connection is not uncommon and is often the cause of noise in the circuit.  If the rest of the cabling needs checking, it would be best to get an engineer out to check and replace any faulty joints etc.

If you wait here a day or two, a VM Mod should pick this up and discuss directly with you.
