Laptop constantly disconnecting from wifi

Hi,

Over the last 2-3 weeks, my laptop (Dell) has started to constantly disconnect from my Virgin wifi (using Hub 5) and then reconnecting again. Makes it impossible to properly work.

The laptop works perfectly fine on all other networks, and similarly, all other devices in our home work perfectly fine on our Virgin wifi.

I have tried all the usual tricks - rebooting router, reconnecting wifi, etc.

Can you please advise?

  • Is it connected on Wifi 6. I have the same issue with my S22, but there is a know issue with samsung phones. Does anyone else have any Wifi 6 issues?

Have you tried disabling 'channel optimisation' in the 'smart wifi' section of the hub's admin pages? (If you are using VM's pods, I don't think you can do this as the pods require smart wifi to work).

You can try it and see if it helps with the Dell connection reliability. If it does not, just turn it back on again.

Reinstall the network driver like this. Download from Dell the latest Wi-Fi driver for your specific laptop model and save it. Uninstall your Wi-Fi adapter and if offered the option to "Delete the driver software for this device" then take it. Reboot the laptop and Windows should reeinstall the driver. If this doesn't work install the driver you've saved.
