Intermittent internet drop out. VPN

My location is London SE266SN. I have been getting intermittent internet cut-offs this since Thursday last week. It's very annoying when you are trying to work from home and connecting to the office work on computers via VPN. Virgin keeps telling us they are making improvements to their service, and this will cause the intermittent disruptions. This has been happening since last week and there seems no end in sight. What is going on? Why it takes so long and why this is happening during day working hours? If they are working to improve the network, why not work at night? Are they going to compensate us all these issues?

    What is being reported on the “free & automated” Service Status number - 0800 561 0061 - which usually gives the most up to date info. and tells you of more local issues and fix estimates, down to street cab/ postcode level.
