Hub 5X Modem Mode

Find it extremely frustrating that there's modem mode for the hub 5X yet. I know the drums been beat several times but I'm here to beat it again. Do we have any updates at all for this feature?

  • There is modem mode on hub 5x, I am running in modem mode right now with a Draytek Vigor router. It works fine, what's your problem?

You beat me to it Cardiffman282 - the hub5x doesn't work in modem mode and it appears that @fronty is able to use modem mode as they ahve a hub 5 and are still on the older DOCSIS network which uses coaxial copper cables.

I was just checking that thread, and looking at the ip address shown on the picture (only the first instance of the ip address was blanked out)   in < this linked post> and then checking a postcode local to that IP shows that it doesn't appear to be a VM full fibre area so the hub 5x wouldn't be issued as it doesn't work on the old cable connection.

problem one is only works on 1Gb not the 10Gb port and two no official support or page link on hub menu (not that VM support anything in router mode)

    On our wavelength

I think we can forget about modem mode. If Virginmedia were ever going to introduce it they would have done so by now.

They want their customers to use all the equipment just as it's provided, and not cause trouble with any special needs.

Whats so special about how the internet was meant to work?

Virginmedia are not interested in how you want it to work. Only what is cheapest to provide.
