When the Hub 5 is in modem mode, there is nothing to configure. All the configuration is on the UDR. One thing to note however, the 2.5Gb port on the Hub 5 only seems to work if the attached device i.e. the UDR can set the WAN port to have EEE off. Tudor is this possible ?

And just follow this sequence.....

This is Tudor’s Router set up advice from another thread
Switch on and set up your own router or first Mesh unit (in its settings) to have its WAN port set to be in.. Dynamic/Automatic IP or DHCP (& Nat) mode, it may be pre-set that way anyway. Then, disconnect all cables from your new router (or all Mesh units) and switch them off and unplug them. Then, put the VM Hub into modem mode ( https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-hub-modem-mode ) and wait for the base light to turn magenta/purple (on a Hub3 - but green on a Hub4 or Hub5).
Once it’s in modem mode, the VM hub “MUST” then be powered off. Switch your router on and make sure it’s fully initialised (leave 5 min) and then put in the Cat6a ethernet cable from its WAN port to the VM hub.
NOW… power up the VM hub and wait 5-10 minutes for The Hub to initialise and and you should get a connection. Use the recommended App to connect any other Mesh units to the first one. This order only needs to be done the first time you connect the router to the VM hub. You might also set the SSID and key/password on the new router/Mesh to match that on the HUB so when you swap over, all your wireless devices should just connect automatically.

Probably ok on 2.5 socket, my UDM Pro is ok and i did not change any setting. I’ll take a look at the settings, but there are rather a lot. Just taken a look, I’m using a QSPFTEK SPF+ to RJ45 adapter in the UDM Pro, it’s a 10G module, but adjusts automatically to either 1G, 2.5G or 10G, so it must also automatically adjust the EEE as there are no external settings.
I took a look at the UDR7 specs and it has a 10G SPF+ socket as well as a 2.5G WAN socket. So if it does not work with the VM hub connected to the 2.5G socket then using the 10G SPF+ socket may be the solution. I do know you cannot use the ‘approved’ Ubiquiti 10G module as it’s not multi speed.

The reason I’m using the SPF+ socket is the UDM Pro other sockets are only 1G. I use one of them for my second ISP connection. The router allows up to 8 WAN connections, bit of overkill.
