How to update firmware on Superhub 5?

I've just been upgraded from superhub 3 to superhub 5 today.  Everything is set up but I have an issue with the 2.5Gb port not working with my 2.5Gb unmanaged switch.

I found lots of threads on this issue here, all dating from around 2 years ago (eg Issues with 2.5Gb Unmanaged Switch and 2.5Gb Port | Virgin Media Community - 5482857), describing the exact same issue I am experiencing.  These issues arose when firmware LG-RDK_7.6.20-2306.5 was pushed out,  and were apparently resolved with a later firmware update, RDK_8.10.26-2309.3.

Having checked my device, I noticed it is still on LG-RDK_7.6.20-2306.5, which explains the issues I am having.  I've tried rebooting the device, but it doesnt update itself.  How can I get it to update to the latest firmware?

    My Hub 5 is on LG-RDK_7.6.20-2306.5 and AFAIK that’s the latest.  Besides VM push out the firmware, you can’t do anything. 
    Any devices using the 2.5G port need to have EEE disabled to work.

      Some people in the thread I linked to above said they got updated to RDK_8.10.26-2309.3 and this resolved the issue for them.  (https://community.virginmedia.com/discussions/Computers/hub-5-firmware-upgrade/5480079/replies/5531380). My switch is unmanaged so I cant disable anything on it unfortuntely.  But again, people in this thread posted that they had the same switch as me and got it working with the new firmware.

        The link you mention is to a customer that purchased a managed switch in order to make use of the 2.5Gb/s port on the Hub 5.    

        i.e. the different software does not enable use of a budget unmanaged switch.
         
        I'd buy the managed switch that was mentioned as working now, this problem has persisted for many months and VM ( or their suppliers ) have been glacially slow at fixing defect of the Hub 5.

    Updates are normally pushed out overnight, so leave the hub running.
