Cannot find 2.4GHz network so cameras & printer cannot connect

Hello,

I was recently sent an upgraded Hub v5 in November to replace my v3. Got everything set up and working but just before Christmas the C200 Tapo cameras and HP printer lost connection.

192.168.0.1 tells me that they are connected and that the 2.4GHz band is operational, but DCHP says  they all have 0s lease time. Tried reconnecting one of the cameras but it doesn't even see the 2.4GHz network. The Software version is LG-RDK_11.6.2-2410.1. All devices connected to 5GHz band are fine.

Other posts indicate this is a known issue - is there a fix for this?

Cheers,

Sai

Software version LG-RDK_11.6.2-2410.1 (from Sept 2025) for Hub 5 has a recurrent fault where Wi-Fi Fails and DHCP Fails.   We are back to defects that were present when the Hub 5 launched in 2022.

The give away of these defects appears to be the Hub 5 DHCP menu page showing a Lease time of Zero (expired  IPs) for devices that have stopped working.

A reboot / reset of the Hub 5 may clear this for a while.

If you have a critical device such as a VOIP phone or CCTV camera or Printer,
setting a Static IPs ( not a Reserved IPs ) might be a work around.

Modem mode and a Wi-Fi Router is the only for sure way out of the the current pickle,
typically it takes VM many months to grasp these issues and a get fix from the OEM.

Hub 5 Router mode firmware has had so many bloopers it could be an object lesson in how not to take a technology product to market.

So much for plug and play if people can't work out to at least log in the hub we are all doomed...if the hub was a modem we all be passing the buck to 3rd party router forums.

There is a reason why my printers and cameras are ethernet connected ...  ;-)

  • Login to the Hub (192.168.0.1) Go to Enhanced - Wireless Signal and make sure the 2.4 GHz is enabled. Disable the 5 GHz whilst you setup you camera, if linking it with your mobile the mobile has to be connected to the 2.4 GHz WiFi. This is how I setup my 3 WiFi cameras. Once you have setup the camera you can enable 5 GHz WiFi and login to it with your mobile. You will then be able to view your camera via the software.

Use a wired connection and browse to 192.168.0.1   Ignore any security warnings. The settings password is printed on the bottom of the Hub.  It is NOT the Wifi password btw.

TIP - Don't use wifi to connect as any changes can disrupt the wifi connection and leave you disconnected, hence use a wired connection.  If you really get stuck, just pinhole reset the Hub back to Factory Settings.

  • Managed to connect all devices that require the 2.4GHz band after a pin reset; however, the old HP printer (J611) is still an issue. DHCP says it's connected but it has a blank field for ip address and "unknown" lease time.

Thanks for letting us know about this SeriousSai and we're sorry to about your issues connecting your printer up.

Can we ask if you've tried following the steps posted by our fellow forum members and if so, what the results of these were?

VM really need to do more testing I really do think VM should not do router mode.

To fix the problem you have to do what was done many years ago which you can do today and that is get your own wifi router and use hub in modem mode.

    here is a cheap router

TP-Link Archer BE3600 Router WiFi 7 BE3600Mbps, WiFi Router, 2.5G Ports, USB 3.0 Port, Maximized Coverage, VPN Router, Internet Booster Routers, WiFi Booster, HomeShield Security, Easy Setup,EasyMesh : Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

    and cable

There have been problems with the 2.4Ghz band on the Hub5. Try a pin hole reset.

      On our wavelength

Can you elaborate. It's only one device this is happening on

        Hi Kendo,

I'm not sure what you mean. I have two Tapo cameras, 1 HP printer, and something else (can't tell what) "connected" on the 2.4GHz band but according to DHCP they have a lease time of 0s; however, none of them can see the network.

I will try a pinhole reset.

        Cheers,
