Best option for poor wifi coverage

Hi everyone, so i have my router in the middle of the house, yet i cant get a good signal at all to my PC in the office -

My speed direct from the hub (Virgin 5x Hub) is 520mb

TP Powerline giving me only 38mb via ethernet (CAT 7 Cables), although my Powerline is old (TP-Link AV600)

Now…would it be best to use WIFI mesh like Google nest? 

And if so, can i plug an ethernet from the Nest to my PC, and if so, will this improve ping/latency? 

I am wanting to achieve minimum 250mb/s in the office with ping as low as possible <30ms 

What would be my best option?

    Have you considered relocating the VM Hub into your office enabling a direct cable connection to the PC, and using Wireless Access points or a Mesh to support the rest of the house ?

      Hey thanks for replying, I thought about this however the office is an extension and has many obstacles to the rest of the house, it is not central to the house which may be an issue for connectivity on other devices

    Good thoughts from Client62.

    You will never get more than ~40 using any powerlines.  Run an ethernet cable from the Hub to the office then connect a wireless access point like the one in my "sig".

    I would personaly avoid any third party equipment from companies whose primary business is "data management"...  and stick to companies with a tried and trusted long term reputation in producing good quality networking equipment.

    IMHO - I think the TP-Link range of kit covers the needs of most users at reasonable prices - take a look at their Deco range of Mesh systems - these are highly regarded on here.

    The only real answer is to run an Ethernet cable to the office, it easy to get external grade cable, unless you want to spend lots of money on a point to point wireless link. By the way, use Ethernet grade Cat6a, it’s a lot cheaper and just as good as Cat7. In fact it’s a later evolution of the cable than Cat7, it’s not always the highest number that is best.

    Agree best option in run an ethernet cable and either plug straight into your laptop (docking station) or connect a black virgin WiFi pod to the end of the ethernet cable.
